Killington Parks and Recreation and Killington Elementary school are joining forces to host a "Finding Our Strides" Community 5K Run or Walk! This event serves as the culmination of the Finding Our Strides youth program, dedicated to promoting wellness, fitness, and camaraderie among participants in grades 3-6.
The Finding Our Strides Community 5K Run or Walk is not just about breaking a sweat; it's about coming together to make a positive impact. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Killington Elementary School Physical Education department to fund events such as residency programs, field trips and field day.
Participants can expect a fun-filled morning featuring:
Scenic Course: Enjoy a picturesque out and back route that begins at the Johnson Recreation Center; Travel down River Road past scenic wetlands and Thundering Brook Falls before turning around at Wolf Hill Road to return to the Rec Center.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Bring the whole family along for this inclusive event! Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Participants are welcome to bring strollers to the event; however, please note that the route includes a dirt road.
Community Support: By participating in the Finding Our Strides 5K, you're not just investing in your own well-being; you're also giving back to the community and supporting the educational enrichment of local students.
Post-Race Celebration: After crossing the finish line, stick around for a post-race celebration featuring light refreshments and the opportunity to connect with fellow participants and supporters.
Registration for the Finding Our Strides Community 5K Run/Walk is open to individuals all ages and fitness levels. Whether you're a seasoned athlete, a weekend warrior, or simply looking for a fun way to support a worthy cause, we invite you to lace up your sneakers and join us for an unforgettable event!
Volunteer Support: Day of Volunteer support is needed to help execute this event. Volunteer support includes event registration, water stop workers, and event clean-up.
Event Details
Date: Sunday, June 1st
Location: Event begins and ends at Johnson Recreation Center Pavilion with the 5k route following the dirt road portion of River Road.
Time: Check-in starts at 9:00am, followed by the run/walk at 10:00am. Festivities conclude at 12:00pm.
Cost of Participation
Race fees for the "Finding Our Strides" Community 5K Run/Walk are structured as follows:
Adults (ages 18+): $30
Children ages 7-17: $15
Note: Children under the age of 7 are welcome to participate in the event free of charge.
Registration fees include participation in the run/walk event and access to a post-event celebration featuring light refreshments.
Participants enrolled in the KES "Finding Our Stride" program or serving as volunteer coaches are exempt from entry fees. Program participants and coaches should register using "finding Our Strides Participant" registration option, and enter the promo code provided by Ms. Porcello to have their registration fees waived.
